Sanctuaries DC Residency with Empower DC

In 2018 I did a three-month artist residency and training program with the Sanctuaries DC, a multiracial, interfaith collective that activates artists to build power, shift culture, and heal spirits through community organizing and social movements. We met with a cohort twice a week for 12 weeks for skill-building, master classes, and trust building with our community partner. Our goal was to co-design creative organizing tools to progress Empower DC’s 10 - year campaign to return the closed Cromwell School building into an active community center. Below are samples of imagery I created for actions, wheatpastes, and postcards. In 2021, their campaign was a succcess! You can learn more about the history here and the recent win here.
