On the open-ended use of the word "queer" vs. "resistive"

Jose Munoz's book "Cruising Utopia" was published right before I started personally delving into these thoughts with my work at school. A few of his quotes have always stuck with me. A reviewer mentions that "Munoz contends that queerness is instead a futurity bound phenomenon, a "not yet here" that critically engages pragmatic presentism." 

"One can stick with the word and intervene into it, bring the term back on track, and argue for the power and force of the term....you keep the history and struggles around the term."
